The Portage County NAACP will host its annual Martin Luther King Prayer Breakfast on Jan. 18 at the Kent United Church of Christ , 1400 E. Main St.
The breakfast will take place from 10 a.m. to noon, with doors opening at 9:30 a.m. The theme is “Protect Our 2025.”
The guest speaker will be Lawrence “Mac” Cunningham , mayor of Windham. Cunningham, who took office in January, is the first Black person to be elected mayor in all of Portage County.
Tickets are $20 and may be purchased online at the NAACP website , or a check can be mailed to the NAACP office, located at the Kent church, 1400 E. Main St., Kent, OH, 44240.
