WAYNE COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) – Fire departments in Wayne County were called to a pond outside Marshallville on Wednesday morning after a 16-year-old boy fell through the ice.
Firefighters say the details of how it happened are heartbreaking.
“Basically, he had a big snow shovel and was out there ice skating, clearing the snow off of the pond so that they could make it smooth ice to skate. They were pumping water on top too to help smooth it off and he just suddenly went through,” said Kidron Volunteer Fire Chief Jon Peters.
