A woman missing from Canton whose decomposing body was found in a home near Canal Winchester while the U.S. Marshals were arresting a fugitive there died from a drug overdose, according to a report from the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.
Chara Medlock, 32, died from combined exposure to fentanyl, morphine and xylazine, the report states. Medlock’s death has been ruled as an accident.
Xylazine is a tranquilizer used to sedate animals for surgery or to relieve pain. It is not approved for use in people and has been linked to overdose deaths, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
