Accused cop killer to be forced to take meds: I-Team

CLEVELAND (WJW) – A man accused of killing a Cleveland police officer will be forced to take medication that could restore his mental competency.

A Cuyahoga County judge made the decision during a hearing Monday on the mental health status of Delawnte Hardy, the man accused of killing Cleveland Police officer Jamieson Ritter .

According to the testimony of a doctor overseeing Hardy’s care, Hardy could be competent to stand trial if he is forced to take medication. He has been refusing his medication and has not made appropriate progress on competency without it, doctors say.
