John Thiellesen of Ohio was discovered on a Phoenix sidewalk before dying at a hospital in 2004
After more than two decades, an Ohio man who died after he was found unconscious on a sidewalk in Phoenix has been identified.
Before his death, John Thiellesen was reported missing by his brother on Sept. 1, 2004, the Toledo Police Department posted on Facebook in September 2023 as part of its “Still Missing” campaign. The 42-year-old man, who had mental health issues, called his sister to tell her he was going to “cleanse” himself and planned on jumping into the Maumee River, a large body of water that drains into Lake Erie.
