Kent State Commemorates the 1970 Shootings

It’s been 55 years and many of the students who were on the Kent State campus on May 4, 1970, have passed away, but others, including current students, are keeping the memory of that day alive — and with government aggressiveness toward legal immigrants AND U.S. citizens on becoming worse, that day in the past, when the National Guard fatally gunned down four young people in a group of demonstrating students likely seems more urgent that it has any time recently. “The Power of Our Voices” is the theme for the May 4 Commemoration and those voices are being loudly raised now.

Friday evening includes a lecture and book discussion. The annual candlelight walk and vigil, started in 1971, takes place at 11pm Saturday…
