Cuyahoga County men both receive prison time for roles in Cleveland street takeovers

CLEVELAND — Two Cuyahoga County judges have separately sentenced a pair of men for their roles in the street takeovers that shook the city of Cleveland last fall.

On Monday, Judge Ashley Kilbane sentenced 28-year-old Iziah Bond to three years in prison after the Parma native pleaded guilty to more than a dozen charges. On Tuesday, Judge Joan Synenberg handed down a punishment of nine months behind bars to 18-year-old Robert Polk, of Strongsville.

According to prosecutors, Bond attended or participated in at least five different street takeovers across the city of Cleveland that began on the night of Sept. 28 and lasted into the early morning hours of Sept. 29. During those events, suspects were accused of (among other things) blocking highways and intersections, drag racing and performing burnouts with cars, setting off fireworks, and even pointing or firing guns.
