In collaboration with the FBI, deputies showcased various types of explosives. This was part of their standard preparedness training exercises, designed to keep skills sharp in the event of an actual emergency.
For those startled by the blasts, the Sheriff’s office has an explanation. According to a social media post from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, “If you were near the airport today we hope you pardon our booms.” The statement revealed that the Summit County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad, which serves nine counties, was conducting one of its regular trainings at the time.
