Cost of obtaining police body-worn, dashcam footage goes up in Lakemore

LAKEMORE — Requesting body-worn and dash camera footage of Lakemore Village Police calls could now cost those requesting the footage a bit more.

In response to a recently passed state law, village Council May 5 approved an amendment to the employee policies and procedures manual to allow for the charge of $75 per hour for the time spent retrieving, downloading, reviewing, redacting and producing the footage, with a cap of $750 per request.

Ohio HB 315 — which was signed into law Jan. 2 and goes into effect April 2 — is aimed at helping law enforcement agencies recoup the rising costs of processing public records requests.
