To alleviate the burden of accessing clean laundry for its residents, the City of Akron has set a date for its next Tumble Together event—a gesture of community solidarity. Mayor Malik announced that the event on May 20 from 2 pm to 6 pm will offer free washing and drying for up to three loads per household at the West Side Laundromat, specifically Super Clean Laundromat on 1739 Brittian Rd. Strictly for Akron inhabitants, the city continues to extend this helping hand in an era where such essentials are not always given.
According to the city’s history with these initiatives, the previous Tumble Together events helped 97 families in 2024, translating to over 300 loads of laundry. Earlier this year, in March, the program already lent its services to more than 63 families. With the upcoming event, Akron seeks to push this number even further, aiming for over 200 families by the end of 2025.
