Akron Zoo sets attendance record

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) – A picture-perfect forecast, new dinosaur exhibit, and love for moms gave the Akron Zoo a winning combination.

The zoo announced a new attendance record for the highest general admission day. The record day took place on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11, when the zoo welcomed 7,336 guests.

According to a press release, the previous general admission record was on Monday, Feb. 20, 2017 with 7,332 guests.

“This weekend at the Akron Zoo saw the grand opening of DinoTrek, which features 20 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs located throughout the zoo and runs through Sept. 14. The zoo also offered free admission for moms and grandmas for Mother’s Day on Sunday,” the release said.
