Cuyahoga County taxpayers still don’t know why the county took two years to investigate allegations against a corrections lieutenant who finally was fired this week, and the Today in Ohio podcast can’t understand why the county is not talking.
“He’s out. He’s been fired. After two years of sitting on paid leave and nearly $200,000 in taxpayer money paid to this guy. Lt. George Hughes has been fired,” said Leila Atassi during the podcast discussion.
The case, reported recently by cleveland.com’s, reveals a troubling timeline. Hughes was accused of sexually harassing multiple female subordinates, including allegations he groped one of them off-duty at a bar. According to Atassi, the county’s termination letter detailed how “Hughes sent inappropriate sexually suggestive messages to women who worked under him, some three ranks below, and he kept at it even when they didn’t respond.”…
