East CLC 8th graders who participated in the Changemaker Challenge made their project come to fruition on Saturday, May 24. The Changemakers hosted a food pantry in collaboration with The Remedy Church. The project involved:
- Developing marketing materials, a promotional strategy, and making announcements
- Collaborating with a local chef to create, purchase, cook, and distribute food kits of “Fajita Pasta”
- Volunteering at the food drive (set up, distribution, cooking, handing out samples)
The students loved having community members drop by their booth on Saturday. They were all smiles, handing out black bean samples and inviting everyone to grab a bag to take home.
