Orange police arrest couple in Westlake restaurant wallet theft investigation

WESTLAKE, Ohio –

An employee of the Cheesecake Factory on Crocker Road phoned the Westlake Police Department at 2:15 p.m. on June 10 to report that a female customer had been the victim of a theft.

She had been seated while eating on the patio. When she checked her purse, she noticed that her wallet was missing. Officers reviewed surveillance video and spotted a couple who had been acting suspiciously. The man and woman arrived separately, sat next to the victim, and left the area in less than two minutes. The officers used surveillance video to track the couple to an SUV in the area. The officers then monitored automated license plate readers to discover that the SUV was a rental from Chicago…
