Protest on Army anniversary an insult to those who put their lives on the line for our freedoms

Why would a true American choose to protest on a day to celebrate our brave U.S. Army forces on the Army’s 250th anniversary? What a way to show disrespect for our country. Ted Diadiun hit the nail on the head in his column Sunday (“Protest marches are full of sound and fury … signifying nothing,” June 22).

Protests are such a waste of precious time and energy, often resulting in chaos, riots, and destruction. Don’t people have more constructive ways to utilize their free time? And to pick the same day of the Army’s anniversary to walk around and hold up signs, instead of showing respect to those who live and die to protect their right to “protest,” was a deplorable choice, in my opinion.
