KRS-One to perform at Akron’s Lock 3 Live in July

AKRON, Ohio – Hip hop icon KRS-One is coming to Akron’s Lock 3 Park on Saturday, July 26. The Philadelphia duo of turntable legend DJ Cash Money and rapper Marvelous will open the show along with Cleveland hip-hop band Red Rose Panic and DJ Forrest Getemgump. Tickets start at $25 and are available at ticketmaster.com.

KRS-One, also known as The Teacha, is one of hip-hop’s most respected MCs as half of Boogie Down Productions with the late DJ Scott La Rock. They brought no-nonsense, street-level grit and community-minded, pro-Black rhymes to rap music in the mid-1980s with their early albums “Criminal Minded” and “By All Means Necessary,” featuring DJ staples “South Bronx” and “My Philosophy.”

The influential MC also had a long solo career with a discography that includes several more classics, such as the oft-sampled “Sound of da Police” and the Blondie-interpolating “Step into a World (Rapture’s Delight).”…
