Forecast: Air Quality Alert along with heat, humidity

(WJW) — An Air Quality Alert is in effect for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage and Summit counties through midnight Saturday.

The rest of the holiday weekend will be hot and humid! Highs on Saturday and Sunday will be near or above 90 degrees. A spotty shower or thunderstorm is possible this afternoon and evening but most places will remain dry.

The high humidity levels will make it feel even hotter! Max heat indices during the hottest time of day will be in the mid to upper 90s on Saturday and Sunday. Although dangerous heat is not expected, make sure to not over do it outside in the heat of the day.

With all the heat and humidity around, a stray downpour or two cannot be ruled on Saturday and Sunday. However, the chance of rain will really start to ramp up early next week when a cold front slides through Northeast Ohio. Scattered to numerous downpours and storms will develop on Monday.

The heat will shift west next week. Temperatures will stay warm but will not be overly hot through through first 10 days of July.
