Akron Community Reels After Shooting At Mason Learning Center Leaves 15 Injured Amid Chaos

Yesterday morning, Akron’s Mason Community Learning Center parking lot transformed into a scene of violence and chaos as gunfire erupted during a large gathering, resulting in multiple injuries. According to FOX8, a 911 caller reported a “massive shooting” with people and vehicles franticly dispersing from the area. During the incident, more than 100 shots may have been fired, leaving five young individuals struck by bullets and another ten wounded amid the ensuing pandemonium.

Witnesses and police described the confusion as shots were fired among a crowd of over 100 people, mainly teenagers and young adults. Some indulged in drinking and smoking marijuana before the sudden outbreak of violence. WKYC reports show disturbing surveillance footage that captured the crowd running for cover and vehicles colliding and striking individuals as they attempted to escape the shooting. Akron Police Lt. Michael Murphy detailed the victims’ injuries to WKYC’ Annabelle Childers, indicating they were non-life-threatening. However, the number of people injured is increasing as some sought aid on their own at various hospitals.

The Summit Emergency Communications Center received over 30 911 calls post 3:05 a.m., with vivid accounts of the terror experienced by those at the scene. A chilling call contained a woman’s voice urging her group to a car after sighting a person shot, as per reviewed calls by Signal Akron. Following that, calls depicted a shootout, one desperate individual insisted that a known person get up from the ground and run, and another caller begged for police to arrive as a cousin sustained a gunshot…
