Community support growing for Shaker Heights cheerleader, now leg amputee

CLEVELAND (WJW) — On a warm, sunny Tuesday, for the first time in more than a month, Amani Smith-McDaniel got to feel the fresh air on her face, surrounded by the people who love her most.

“She is doing awesome — way above the doctors, the nurses, anything in the medical book. She has surpassed it,” her mom Nicole McDaniel said.
