AKRON, Ohio (WJW) — A man who Akron police said is suspected of shooting a woman multiple times then fleeing into a wooded area was taken into custody Wednesday.
Road closed as Brunswick police respond to ‘incident’
According to Akron police, officers responded to a shooting in the 800 block of Bellevue Ave. just before 4:30 a.m. where they found a 26-year-old woman who’d been shot in the arm and chest.
She was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, a news release from police said.
Meanwhile, officers were able to identify 30-year-old Deshawn Jalen Jeffrey as the suspected shooter. He’d left the scene before officers arrived. According to the release, officers learned Jeffrey had abandoned his car and was reportedly in a wooded area in the 800 block of Biruta St.
