Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne is right to stick to his guns regarding the proposed Big Dumb Stadium project inasmuch as this so-called “economic development” catalyst is little more than a glorified real estate project.
A project of this nature will mostly generate temporary construction jobs, and not what the region desperately needs: permanent household wealth creation (unless your last name happens to be Haslam, who would certainly make out handsomely). As for ancillary development around the stadium, Brook Park hardly seems the kind of destination draw that undergirds the rosy financial projections. Comparisons to Greater Nashville or Atlanta are laughable…
