MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) — A man is dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after police were called to a Maple Heights home for a report of a woman who said she had been held against her will and assaulted by her live-in boyfriend.
Trouble-makers force local fair to shut down early
According to a press release, on Saturday, July 26, at 8:52 a.m. officers responded to the area of Maple Heights Boulevard and Knoll Avenue where a woman told police her live-in boyfriend, who was armed with a handgun, had bound her to a pole in the basement of their home on Hollywood Avenue and assaulted her for several hours overnight.
Police said they arrived at the house and made several attempts to contact the male, but did not receive a response.

The Southeast Area Law Enforcement SWAT and CIT teams were called to assist at the scene, where several more unsuccessful attempts were made to contact the man. Eventually, SWAT team members entered the residence where police said they found a man in an upstairs bedroom, deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The female was transported to Marymount Hospital for treatment. Officials did not provide details on her condition…
