Learn about changes to SNAP benefits

AKRON – The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is partnering with a variety of local experts to educate community members on what to do if their SNAP or other public benefits are changing/decreasing.

They plan to discuss the benefits cliff, how to navigate the system and take questions from those in attendance. The virtual meeting will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Aug. 21. Those interested should RSVP and submit their questions at akroncantonfoodbank.org/townhall3.

Romanian Festival in Canton

CANTON – St. George Romanian Byzantine Catholic Cathedral, 1123 44th St. NE, will hold its annual Romanian Festival from noon to 7 p.m. Aug. 24.

The event will feature authentic Romanian food, pastries and beverages; folk dancers and live music; gift shop; a noon liturgy; tours; and children’s activities including free bounce house and slide, face painting, and balloonist from 2 to 5 p.m. Dine-in or carryout food available.
