NORTH CANTON, Ohio – It’s not every day that police are called to wrangle a tortoise, but that’s exactly what happened when a large, shelled wanderer was discovered on North Canton’s city streets.
Officers with the North Canton Police Department were called Thursday morning to investigate a report of a loose tortoise near the intersection of Church and Donner Avenue SW. Officers found the animal wandering through yards and into the roadway.
No high-speed chase was required, but an officer put on a pair of gloves to capture the tortoise and take it to the nearby Community Gardens for temporary shelter…
