Portage County Authorities Seek Public’s Help in Finding Missing Rootstown Man Darrell Lee Wayt, Family Offers $10,000 Reward

The Portage County Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking assistance from the public in locating a missing Rootstown man, Darrell Lee Wayt, age 69. According to The Record-Courier, Wayt was last seen on Tuesday morning, Aug. 19, around 11 a.m. He is described as being 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing approximately 189 pounds. The alert also emphasized that he did not take his prescription medications with him and had his cell phone turned off.

Concern for Wayt’s safety is heightened due to his medical condition, as he requires insulin, which he reportedly does not have with him. In a statement obtained by Cleveland19, the Portage County Sheriff’s Department expressed urgent concern for his well-being. Wayt was last seen driving a white 2016 Toyota RAV4 with the Ohio license plate number FRA2022. The authorities are encouraging anyone to immediately call 911 upon seeing the adult or the vehicle.
