The GAR Foundation in Akron, Ohio, has announced grants totaling nearly $2.5 million in support of 28 organizations in the region focused on education, arts and culture, basic needs, and economic, workforce, and community development.
Funding this quarter highlights two investments in early childhood education programs, and recipients include the Early Childhood Resource Center, which was awarded $150,000 in support of the delivery and management of SPARK, a home visiting program focused on kindergarten readiness for children and their caregivers; and Child Guidance & Family Solutions, which will receive $100,000 in support of TAPS, a program that equips preschoolers with essential lifelong development skills.
Additional recipients include ArtsNow, which was awarded $140,000 for ArtsForward administration and grants; Hope and Healing Survivor Resource Center, which will receive $180,000 for multiyear operating support; United Way of Summit & Medina, which was awarded $450,000 to address the most significant community needs in the area; and University of Akron Foundation, which will receive $500,000 for the Polsky Knight Creative project…
