Akron Police and U.S. Marshals Apprehend Suspect Charged with Homicide at Local Gas Station

Akron’s police force, in collaboration with the U.S. Marshals led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF), has successfully apprehended Demario McCall, a 41-year-old man wanted in connection with a homicide at a local BP gas station. The arrest occurred early on August 30th, without resistance, at an Akron residence. McCall is charged with the murder of 26-year-old Ar’Mon Covington, as well as having weapons while under disability, and carrying concealed weapons. The fatal incident happened on July 6, 2025, after Covington reportedly tried to stop McCall from harassing a woman. A

Following the issuance of a warrant on July 8th, the NOVFTF swiftly began their search to apprehend McCall, subsequently featuring him as the Fugitive of the Week on July 14. It took weeks of investigative work before the Task Force could successfully locate McCall at a house in the 500 block of Ardella Ave. According to a social media post by the Akron Police Department, a loaded firearm was also found and recovered during the arrest.
