Cameras on stop arms, inside buses help enforce Ohio law
GREATER AKRON — As students head back to school this fall, area school districts and police departments continue to address the persistent problem of motorists failing to stop for a school bus.
Summit County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Bill Holland said the sheriff’s department is notified several different ways when a motorist fails to stop for a school bus. He said a school district may send a video of the incident, or another motorist who witnessed it may notify the department. Once the department is notified of an incident, an investigation is completed, and the driver is identified. Holland said tickets are delivered to violators in person.
