CANTON, Ohio — Terri Niner, the Canton woman indicted in the stabbing death of her daughter, Ayla Mangan, was sentenced in Stark County Common Pleas Court after changing her plea to guilty on Thursday.
Court officials tell 3News that Judge Taryn Heath sentenced the 49-year-old Niner to three years in prison after she agreed to plead guilty to one count of felony involuntary manslaughter and a misdemeanor charge of negligent assault.
CASE DETAILS
At approximately 9:35 a.m. on July 10, Canton police officers were called a house in the 2300 block of 20th Street Northeast. Upon arrival, they found the 30-year-old Mangan in the backyard of the home.
Canton Fire Department medics aided Mangan at the scene for a stab wound to her back before she was transported to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital. Mangan died from her injuries a short time after she arrived…
