Local woman dies after being hit by Jeep, thrown into path of car

CANTON, Ohio (WJW) — Police in Canton said a 45-year-old woman has died after she was hit by a Jeep and then thrown into the path of a car, where she was hit again.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon at about 2:22 p.m. in the 2400 block of Tuscarawas Street West.

According to police, a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling eastbound on Tuscarawas Street West when it struck the woman who was walking northbound across Tuscarawas Street. After the initial collision, police said, the woman was thrown into the westbound lane, where she then struck a 2018 Honda Civic.

The pedestrian, later identified as Erica Wynn, was transported to a local hospital, where police report she succumbed to her injuries.
