I-77 rest areas in Summit County to be closed for 1 year amid construction of new facilities: Here are the upgrades coming in 2026

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — If your travels take you along I-77 in Summit County, be prepared for the rest areas in Bath Township near Ira Road to be closed for more than a year.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) says both the northbound and southbound rest stops will be closed starting Tuesday, Oct. 14. The closure will remain in effect through late November of 2026.

ODOT says the current facilities, which were originally constructed in 1986, will be replaced with “new re-imagined rest areas,” which include a lodge-style design with high ceilings, rocking chairs, benches and covered picnic tables…
