AKRON, Ohio (WJW) – As Halloween night approaches, Akron Children’s Hospital says three children are already hospitalized after having been hit by cars just this past weekend. At least one of them while trick-or-treating.
As a result, the hospital hopes to raise awareness for kids, their parents and for drivers during the generation- old tradition.

“I think parents would be really surprised to find out that Halloween is one of the deadliest days for children especially when we talk about pedestrian versus vehicle,” said Heather Trnka, the Hospital’s Injury Prevention Manager.
Most of the injuries happen because kids are darting out into streets from between parked cars or in the middle of a road between crosswalks…
