Akron Man Charged with Involuntary Manslaughter in Fatal Highland Square Shooting

A tragic chain of events unfolded in Highland Square, leading to new charges being levelled against a 23-year-old man involved in a fatal shooting. The Akron Police Department has updated the public via a social media post, stating that Emahni Thomas now faces charges for his role in the death of Timothy Hutchinson. The charges include Involuntary Manslaughter – a class F1 felony, Having Weapons While Under Disability – a class F3 felony, and Tampering with Evidence – also a class F3 felony.

During the investigation, it was discovered that the altercation began when Deshawn Stafford allegedly fired upon Thomas. In response, Thomas shot back, unintentionally striking Hutchinson, who succumbed to his injuries. In a subsequent admission to detectives, Thomas confirmed that he discarded the firearm used in the incident. This all came while Thomas was already in custody for unrelated charges, which include Aggravated Robbery and Having Weapons Under Disability…
