SOLON, Ohio (WJW) — With more than 200 stores in five different states, Giant Eagle needs thousands of pennies every day.
“In recent weeks, we’ve started receiving communications from our bank branch partners that pennies in some instances will be reduced, how many pennies they can get in a day, or in some cases, those pennies just aren’t coming at all,” Giant Eagle Spokesman Dan Donovan said.
Some local cities changed trick-or-treat plans, and some residents still aren’t happy
He said that, depending on the number of people who use cash at any given location, some stores sometimes need to request coins multiple times a day.
Even though the bulk of transactions these days are cashless, a lot of people still use paper money for quick transactions that involve smaller amounts…
