Akron man sentenced to 13 to 18 years for deadly 2022 shooting

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) – An Akron man was sentenced to 13 to 18 years in prison for the deadly 2022 shooting of a 27-year-old man.

According to a release from the Summit County Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich, 40-year-old Christopher Bailey was sentenced to 13 to 18 years in prison for fatally shooting 27-year-old Shawn Knox.

On Monday, Bailey pleaded guilty to the following charges:

  • One count of voluntary manslaughter with a 3-year firearm specification – a 1st degree felony;
  • One count of having weapons while under disability – 3rd degree felony
  • One count of tampering with evidence – a 3rd degree felony
