Intoxicated man pointing gun shot by Akron officer, police say

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) — A man who reportedly pointed a gun at multiple people while intoxicated was shot by an Akron police officer on Tuesday night.

Officers responded just after 9 p.m. to a report of a fight in the 2700 block of Albrecht Avenue, according to a news release.

A responding officer encountered the man and fired his service weapon moments later, striking the man, according to the release. Officers aided the man before he was transported to a hospital by paramedics with “serious injuries.”
