WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) – The government shutdown is over, and benefits are being restored for those who receive assistance, but volunteers at The Word Church in Warrensville Heights were still trying to help out Saturday.
Holding one of its regular Snap Back Saturday food drives, which the church holds on the first and third Saturday of each month, they aimed to hand out even more food than last weekend.
Cleveland police search for missing 17-year-old
A week ago, they handed out 1,500 meals. Through a partnership with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, they aimed to do more on Saturday.
“We wanted to make sure we, at least, can be a little bit of the in-between and be a blessing for people,” Pastor Ray Vernon told Fox 8. “Some people, literally, still don’t have a place or don’t have the means to know where they’re going to eat tomorrow. It’s the holiday season. Whenever we take away things from people who really need them, there are always individuals who are paying for what others are dealing with…
