CANTON, Ohio (WJW) — A man jailed while awaiting trial in the murder of 26-year-old Ryan Godbey died by suicide on Wednesday morning, Dec. 3, according to the Stark County Sheriff’s Office.
Godbey had been reported missing in June under suspicious circumstances. Canton police in a search of Godbey’s apartment that month found signs of a struggle and blood stains, FOX 8 News previously reported. State highway workers later found Godbey’s ID and debit card dumped along Interstate 77.

Human remains discovered the following July in a wooded area in southern Stark County were later confirmed by DNA testing as belonging to Godbey, who was known as “JJ” to family and friends.
“We have to be thankful they continued to work and they continued the effort and they went through and got this testing done so that myself, my family and Ryan’s friends, everybody could have some closure,” Godbey’s mother Jackie told FOX 8 News…
