AKRON, Ohio – Three long-term highway ramp closures are scheduled to begin Friday evening as part of work to replace the Ohio Route 8 bridge over the Cuyahoga River Valley in Akron.
The Ohio Department of Transportation said the following ramps will be closed through late fall 2027:
- Perkins Street to Ohio 8 north. The suggested detour is to take Perkins Street to Goodkirk Street to Buchtel Avenue to Fountain Street, and then to Ohio 8 north.
- Ohio 8 north to Glenwood Avenue. The detour involves taking Tallmadge Avenue to Home Avenue.
- Ohio 8 south to Buchel Avenue. Detour by taking Perkins Street to Goodkirk Street.
This work is part of a $158 million, five-year project to replace a bridge that was built in 1953. The project is scheduled for completion in 2028…
