89-year-old man pleads guilty in Parma hit-skip of mother, child

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The jury trial for the 89-year-old man accused of a hit-skip accident outside the Parma Marc’s that injured a mother and her two-year-old son, was scheduled to begin Monday in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas; however, George Balasko, accepted a plea deal.

Balasko pleaded guilty to two counts of failure to stop after an accident and was sentenced to probation for one year and 30 days house arrest.

As part of the plea, his driver’s license was also taken away for six years and must pay court costs.

The accident happened around 7 p.m. on March 21 outside the store in the 7500 block of W. Ridgewood Dr.

Parma Police said Maddox and her two-year-old son, Genesis Ojikut, were hit by the car after stepping into the parking lot…
