Akron man sentenced to 15+ years for drug trafficking, overdose death

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) – An Akron man was sentenced to 15 to 20.5 years in prison on Wednesday for drug trafficking charges and his involvement in the overdose death of Austin Guildoo in 2024.

According to a release from the Summit County Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich, earlier this month, 21-year-old Victor Jackson pleaded guilty to the following 2024 charges:

  • One count of involuntary manslaughter – a 1st degree felony
  • One count of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound – a 2nd degree felony
  • One count of possession of a fentanyl-related compound – a 3rd degree felony

Jackson also pleaded guilty to the following 2023 charges:

  • One count of aggravated trafficking in drugs – a 1st degree felony;
  • One count of aggravated trafficking in drugs with a major drug offender specification – a 1st degree felony
  • One count of trafficking in counterfeit controlled substances – a 5th degree felony
  • One count of aggravated possession of drugs – a 5th degree felony

Jackson was designated a Major Drug Offender for trafficking one pound of methamphetamine, according to the release.

Back in May 2023, a Cuyahoga County Falls Police officer pulled over a car without a license plate, with Jackson as a passenger.
