DEA fights fentanyl crisis in Northeast Ohio with new initiative

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Large-scale drug operations have been busted recently in Northeast Ohio, with more than a dozen suspects charged over the last few weeks in federal cases involving fentanyl.

The Drug Enforcement Administration has seized significant quantities of drugs and weapons in the region as part of its “Fentanyl Free America” initiative, which began in September.

The DEA’s Detroit Division, which covers all of Ohio and Michigan, has confiscated 29 kilograms of fentanyl powder and 31 kilograms of methamphetamine since the initiative launched…
