Tallmadge man found not guilty by reason of insanity for father’s death

TALLMADGE, Ohio — Ryan Vietmeier, the Tallmadge man who was indicted for aggravated murder in the shooting death of his father, Dennis, has been found guilty by reason of insanity by a Summit County judge.

According to court records, Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Christine Croce made the ruling earlier this month following a court-ordered competency evaluation.

Vietmeier will either be hospitalized or institutionalized based on an evaluation by the Criminal Court Psycho-Diagnostic Clinic. The Court will maintain jurisdiction over Vietmeier for life, per state law.
