Measurable snowfall likely in parts of Ohio this week

OHIO — A winter weather advisory has been issued for a large portion of northeast Ohio, with lake-effect snow and strong winds expected to create hazardous travel conditions from Monday through early Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. Monday until 1 p.m. Tuesday and includes Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Summit, Portage, Trumbull, Ashtabula Inland, and Ashtabula Lakeshore counties. Cities expected to be impacted include Cleveland, Akron, Warren, Mentor, Painesville, Ashtabula, Chardon, Kent, Ravenna, Willoughby, and Geneva, among others.

Forecasters say lake-effect snow will develop Monday, with total snow accumulations ranging from 3 to 7 inchesacross the advisory area. The heaviest snowfall is expected late Monday afternoon into Monday evening, when snowfall rates could reach up to one inch per hour at times.
