Downed power lines, trees close multiple area roads

SAGAMORE HILLS, Ohio (WJW) — Damage from strong winds in Northeast Ohio have closed multiple roads Monday.

Thousands without power in Northeast Ohio amid strong winds

The Sagamore Hills Police Department shared a picture on social media showing downed trees and poles that left power lines strewn across roads.

The police department has closed:

  • North Boyden Road from Valley View to Spring Pond
  • Nesbitt Road from Valley View to South Gannett
  • Dunham Road to Short Canal to Houghton

The roads are impassable at this time, police said. Drivers are encouraged to adjust their travel plans to avoid the impacted areas.

The Bay Village Police Department shared a picture showing a large tree that was blown onto the road.

“Please be advised the Columbia Road is closed between Wolf Road and Lake Road due to tree/wires down. There is no eta for re-opening but it may be early evening at the earliest. Please find alternative routes,” a post from the police department said.

It also noted that a warming center is open at the police department’s community room as several hundred people are without power.
