Mentor police: Beachwood man accused of trying to film 11-year-old boy who was using bathroom at Great Lakes Mall

MENTOR, Ohio — A Beachwood man has been arrested and charged with felony voyeurism after a witness said he tried to film an 11-year-old boy who was using the bathroom Tuesday at Great Lakes Mall in Mentor.

According to a press release, a man called 911 and claimed someone was using a phone to record his son while the boy was using a urinal in the men’s room. In body camera video released by the Mentor Police Department, the suspect — identified as 33-year-old Joshua Yanowitz — is confronted by an officer about reports of him “following young men into the bathroom and recording them.”

“It may be true,” Yanowitz can be heard saying in the food court. After being taken aside and questioned about what’s on his phone, he answers, “Probably what you’re describing.” He later admitted that pictures on his device would “probably” include explicit images…
