New Philadelphia Shooting Incident Leads to Arrest of Robbery Suspect

New Philadelphia police say one of their officers was very fortunate to avoid injuries after a suspect wrestled away his gun and shot at him during an arrest attempt this Wednesday morning.

This happened around 8am behind an East High Avenue residence near the airport. Law enforcement was initially called for a suspicious person, who then tried to flee and became combative when they learned his identity.

Police eventually apprehended the suspect and took him to jail. The suspect’s name hasn’t been released, but he’s described as being in his mid 20s with local connections…
