Why Ohio’s new property tax relief isn’t showing up on your bill just yet

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The property tax bill you’ll be receiving soon, if you haven’t already, might be overstating the full tax charges you’ll have to pay this year.

That’s because one of the property tax-relief changes signed into law by Gov. Mike DeWine on Dec. 19 doesn’t take effect until March 20, after the normal 90-day waiting period for new laws.

But worry not. Things will be adjusted retroactively for the full year, with credits, if you’re entitled to the new reductions. Those adjustments will show up in the second-half bills that will be sent out this summer – fixing the total so you pay the correct amount, no more, for the entire year…
