NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio (WOIO) – A Stark County man wanted on felony warrants fired an officer’s weapon during an arrest attempt Wednesday morning in New Philadelphia.
Police were called to make a welfare check in the 1800 block of East High Avenue. Callers reported a man lying against a tree in a wooded area.
Officers located the man, who initially gave them false ID information. After 30 to 35 minutes, officers identified the man as a 25-year-old man from Stark County, who was wanted on two active felony warrants with a violent offender designation…
