‘A first’: Orphaned mountain lion cubs get new home at Akron Zoo

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) – The Akron Zoo is introducing a new species to its facilities.

According to a press release from the zoo, two female mountain lion cubs that were orphaned in Washington state are now receiving care behind the scenes at the zoo.

The cubs are believed to be 5 months old.

The sisters’ names are Ozette and Neah.

“We are very excited to welcome Ozette and Neah to our Akron Zoo family,” said Doug Piekarz, president & CEO at the Akron Zoo. “This species will be a first for the Akron Zoo. I am grateful that we are able to be a sanctuary and provide these sisters with a forever home – they will be wonderful ambassadors for their native counterparts.”
